Gogglebox viewers make same comment on Andy Burnham cameo as he refuses to apologise
Burnham said he would not apologize, calling the charity special a way to lead with lightness and support cancer research fundraising.
On Friday, Prime Minister Andy Burnham became the first serving leader to appear on Celebrity Gogglebox, joining Liverpool City Region Mayor Steve Rotheram to support the Stand Up To Cancer charity campaign.
The special episode aimed to boost Stand Up To Cancer fundraising efforts, which have raised more than £127 million to date, funding 73 clinical trials and research projects involving more than 13,000 cancer patients.
Burnham was visibly moved watching the story of 41-year-old Will, a young father who died one week after his bowel cancer diagnosis, describing the family's experience as "utter devastation."
Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch questioned how the Prime Minister found time for the commitment, stating she "never had time" for such appearances while in office.
Defending his decision, Burnham stated he would "make no apology" for trying to "lead with a bit of lightness," emphasizing his approach to connecting with the country through "levity and positivity.
