Glenn Close Reveals She Had a 'Complete Hip Replacement'
Close said she is recovering from a complete hip replacement and thanked fans after a cane sighting raised health concerns.
Actress Glenn Close revealed on Instagram that she is recovering from hip replacement surgery, addressing recent cane sightings by explaining her left hip was in "really bad shape."
Public concern arose after Close was photographed using a walking aid at the New York City premiere of "La Bola Negra" on October 15, though she had been walking without assistance as recently as last year.
"I have a cane because I have had a complete hip replacement," the 101 Dalmatians icon stated, adding she aims to keep herself in "running order" and is "hovering around on a cane for now."
Fans flooded social media with well-wishes, with one user writing, "Sending you lots of love and healing energy your way!" Close reassured followers she has her family around her during recovery.
Close hopes to travel to London on October 26 for "The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping" premiere, and The Academy will present her an honorary Oscar on Nov. 15 for her career spanning more than 50 years.
At a film premiere in New York Glenn Close comes on the floor. However, nobody has to worry, explains the 79-year-old actress. She is "great" despite a necessary intervention.
