Giants QB Jaxson Dart still in concussion protocol, out versus Lions
- Giants interim coach Mike Kafka said Friday that rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart remains in the concussion protocol and will not play Sunday's Week 12 game at Ford Field in Detroit.
- After suffering the hit on Nov. 9, Jaxson Dart returned as a limited participant earlier this week but did not reach full-contact practice, so he remains in Phase 4 of concussion protocol.
- As a rookie, Dart has produced on the move with 317 rushing yards, seven rushing touchdowns on 57 carries, plus a 62.7% passing completion rate for 1,417 yards, 10 TDs and three interceptions.
- With Dart sidelined, the Giants will start Jameis Winston and may evaluate Dart for Week 13, with a bye in Week 14 if not cleared.
- Looking beyond this week, Mike Kafka said `You don't want to put him in a box and you don't want to put a bunch of parameters on him`, urging the Giants coaching staff and future head coach to balance protection and style.
