Many people don't pay anymore! The broadcasting fee (in German GEZ fee) is quite unpopular. The number of objectors is large.
Households and companies pay a monthly broadcasting fee in Germany. Revenues for 2024 have now been announced: With a total of 8.74 billion euros, they have fallen by about 260 million euros.
For 2024, the contribution service reports a decrease in revenues. The reason for this is the expiry of the nationwide registration data reconciliation. At the same time, more people were exempt from the contribution for social reasons than in the previous year.
For the first time in years, the revenue from the broadcasting contribution decreased slightly in 2024. More people are not liable for payment due to low income.
In 2024, the contribution service received 8.74 billion euros in broadcasting contributions. Almost 47 million contribution accounts are registered, 3.73 million were in a order for payment procedure.
The ARD ZDF Deutschlandradio contribution service (formerly GEZ) is facing changes. Millions of households in Germany are affected by this innovation – and now have to be careful.
