Germany: Trial of Five Followers of the Former Syrian Regime Opened in Koblenz

Suspended for war crimes and crimes against humanity, the five men, who are not German nationals, are accused of having committed abuses in the Palestinian camp in Yarmouk, in the southern suburbs of Damascus. Juried before the Court of Koblenz on the basis of the principle of universal jurisdiction, their trial is the first of its kind organized in Germany since the fall of Bashar al-Assad.
