Islamic extremist plotted to attack German soldiers during their lunch break, prosecutors say
An alleged Islamic extremist has been arrested for plotting an attack on German soldiers during their lunch break in Munich, aiming to kill many and instill fear, authorities reported.
The 27-year-old Syrian is suspected of supporting radical Islamic ideology, according to the Munich public prosecutor's office.
The suspect procured two 40-centimeter machetes earlier this month and planned to use them in an attack.

A high school student attending Rezé (Loire-Atlantique) was arrested on Thursday, in particular after making death threats against one of his teachers broadcast on the Telegram messaging service.
