Geordie Greep Cancels Five US Shows Following Sexual Misconduct Allegation
The former Black Midi frontman denied the claims and said proceeds from the Vancouver show would support a sexual-violence victims organization.
Former Black Midi frontman Geordie Greep canceled four North American tour dates following sexual misconduct allegations in Vancouver on Thursday. The 27-year-old singer canceled shows in Boise, Salt Lake City, Boulder, and Denver.
At The Pearl in Vancouver on Thursday, an attendee distributed flyers reading "Geordie Greep A Rapist" and "You know what you did this morning Oct 8th." The flyer did not provide further details about the allegation.
Greep responded on stage, stating "I got the wrong end of the stick with someone who was there, and I made a move, and it didn't come off." He apologized, calling it a "complete misunderstanding" on his part.
Venues in Boise, Salt Lake City, Boulder, and Denver canceled Greep's performances as of October 10. The final two North American dates in Des Moines, Iowa, and Omaha, Nebraska, remain scheduled.
Greep's European tour remains scheduled to begin November 1 in Nijmegen. For those affected by inappropriate sexual behavior, the RAINN Hotline offers support at 800-656-4673 or visit Rape Crisis at www.rapecrisis.org.uk.
