General Jaakko Valtanen died on Wednesday 17 January. STT reports that General Jaakko Valtanen has died on Wednesday 17 January at the age of 98. Valtanen is a former commander of the Armed Forces. Valtanen served as Commander of the Defence Forces from 1983 to 1990. Valtanen left for the Winter War as a volunteer transmitter and radio man when he was 15 years old.
