Disciplinary Panel Clears Furlong over Genital Grab Claim
The independent disciplinary committee said Furlong did not commit foul play and ruled he is free to play after the citing complaint was dismissed.
On Thursday, an independent disciplinary committee cleared Leinster's Tadhg Furlong of foul play allegations following a United Rugby Championship incident involving Munster's Gavin Coombes last Saturday at Aviva Stadium.
Coombes alleged Furlong grabbed his groin during the match, prompting citing commissioner Peter Ferguson to investigate after match referee Andrew Brace and TMO Colin Stanley found no conclusive video evidence.
The panel comprising Simon Thomas, Attie Heyns, and Pamela Woodman met Thursday and "unanimously concluded the citing complaint against the player should be dismissed, on the basis that he did not commit an act of foul play contrary to Law 9.27."
Despite dismissing the complaint, the committee found Coombes had given "an honest account of his recollection of events," and confirmed the Player is free to play upon next match-day selection.
Furlong remains eligible for head coach Andy Farrell's Ireland squad as they prepare for the Nations Championship campaign next month, featuring matches against Argentina, Fiji, and South Africa.
