Flower Rules Himself Out of Contention as England Test Head Coach
Flower said he is happy in his current franchise roles after speaking with the England and Wales Cricket Board, ending speculation over the vacancy.
On Friday, Royal Challengers Bengaluru head coach Andy Flower ruled himself out of contention for England's vacant Test coach position, despite emerging as a frontrunner following Brendon McCullum's four-year tenure.
Flower emerged as a prominent candidate due to his previous success with England and his recent achievement leading Royal Challengers Bengaluru to back-to-back IPL titles.
Between 2009 and 2014, Flower served as England's all-format head coach, guiding the team to a 2009 T20 World Cup title, an India Test series victory, and three consecutive Ashes series wins.
Speaking at London Spirit's media day, Flower stated: "The bottom line for me is that I'm very happy in the work that I'm doing at the moment... I'm really comfortable with what I'm doing. I have ruled myself out, yes." The 58-year-old confirmed commitment to his franchise roles.
With Flower's withdrawal, England continues its search for a new Test coach beyond the initial week following McCullum's exit, though Flower described his previous England spell as a coaching highlight.
