From difficult beginnings to teacher and a life rebuilt through determination
The programme has kept 98% of supported young people safely at home as it expands across 38 schools and wins a national award.
Upstream won a national award for preventing youth homelessness as over 118,000 young people faced homelessness last year. That represents one young person every four minutes.
Since launching just over six years ago in a single school in Wales, the programme has expanded to 38 schools across Wales, England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
The partnership reported 98 per cent of young people supported through Upstream remained safely at home. Centrepoint Chief Executive Seyi Obakin OBE said, "We are proud to be part of a partnership that is showing what national collaboration can achieve."
After moving between more than 15 sites, Ben found stability through the charity's support. Support worker Lana explained, "We gave him the space and support he needed to rise above his challenges."
The Monty Python star Sir Michael Palin recently donated two signed eggs to a Centrepoint charity auction, with proceeds of £100 supporting the charity's "eggcellent" work.
