'Friday Night Lights' Stars & The Chicks Back James Talarico As RFK Jr. Joins Ken Paxton In Texas Senate Race
Early voting has tightened the race as Talarico and Paxton lean on celebrity support and major donors to sway a pivotal Senate contest.
- On Monday, Democrat James Talarico and Republican Ken Paxton held dueling rallies in Fort Worth as early voting began across Texas. Both candidates campaigned in pivotal Tarrant County, emphasizing the race's critical importance for the junior Senate seat.
- Tarrant County, once a Republican stronghold, has shifted toward the center in recent years, narrowly supporting Democratic candidates in 2018 and 2020 elections. The county is now widely considered the key battleground required to win statewide office.
- Talarico's campaign deployed 'Friday Night Lights' actors Connie Britton, Jesse Plemons, and Adrianne Palicki to boost his profile. Paxton campaigned with Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to energize his base.
- Financial disclosures reveal Talarico built a wider donor base in Tarrant County, outraising Paxton in 66 of 74 ZIP codes. Paxton remains backed by significant outside spending, including $158 million from Elon Musk.
- Forecasters view the Texas Senate race as a toss-up, with control of the chamber hanging in the balance. A Talarico victory would make him the first Democrat to win statewide in Texas in more than 30 years.
