- Among those displaced, local resident Jon Coker said `I heard a knocking on the door at 04:30, and I was really disorientated, I didn't know what was going on. It was the police`, with police remaining on scene while residents waited outside, and six flats plus a house evacuated to Pagham Church Hall.
- Residents said they heard a loud bang at around 3.30am, with some evacuees taken to Pagham Church Hall and officials reporting six flats and a house were moved there.
