The National Tax Service has launched a tax investigation into 10 forestry companies that evaded 70 billion won by mobilizing shell companies and issuing false tax invoices in bids for wildfire damage recovery projects. They are suspected of committing public bidding irregularities, such as renting out licenses and manipulating performance records to increase their chances of winning bids, thereby securing 23 billion won in contracts.
D, which operates a forestry business in the Gyeongbuk region, mobilized five companies (Organization A) and frequently relocated their business sites to bid on approximately 300 forest fire damage restoration projects, winning about 20 of them.
