Crystal Palace Pair Achieve World Cup Dream as France Squad Revealed
Didier Deschamps kept a veteran core and left out Eduardo Camavinga as France targets a third straight World Cup final.
On Thursday, head coach Didier Deschamps announced France's 26-player squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with captain Kylian Mbappé leading the team to North America.
Les Bleus secured their tournament spot last November, seeking a third consecutive final appearance after winning the FIFA World Cup in 1998 and 2018 and losing to Argentina in 2022.
Superstar forward Mbappé has 56 international goals and pursues Just Fontaine's record of 13 tournament goals. The squad excludes Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike, sidelined by an Achilles injury, and midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.
France kicks off Group I play against Senegal on June 16 in East Rutherford, New Jersey, then faces Iraq in Philadelphia on June 22 and Norway on June 26.
This tournament marks the final chapter for Deschamps, who will step down as head coach after the competition, as France enters the tournament among the favorites to win in North America.
