Farmer Thought Invite for Sheep to Be in Hugh Jackman Film Was a Scam
William Sully says the film used Nobby as the model for twin sheep characters, and he hopes the rare breed gains wider interest.
Farmer William Sully from Somerset provided his Norfolk Horn ram, Nobby, as the model for twin characters Reggie and Ronnie in the Hollywood film 'The Sheep Detectives' starring Hugh Jackman.
Initially fearing a scam, Sully traveled to Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire where production crews placed Nobby in a room with 56 cameras to capture his eating and head movements.
In one sequence, the digital twins Reggie and Ronnie headbutt a car, a detail Sully noted was based on a crew member being headbutted on the leg during filming.
Watching the movie recently, Sully said the team got Nobby "spot on," adding that the ram, described as a "diva," is no longer alive.
With less than 2,500 Norfolk Horn sheep remaining in the country, Sully hopes the film will inspire broader interest in preserving the rare breed.
