FOX Latin America and Tigo Sports Partner to Expand Sports Content Offering in Central America
FOX will add four channel feeds and more than 800 live events a year, while Tigo customers keep expanded sports coverage.
- On Monday, Fox Latin America announced an agreement to acquire Tigo Sports assets, including local rights and production capabilities across Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama.
- This transaction combines local content with a premium international portfolio including the Premier League, UEFA Europa League, and Bundesliga. Carlos Martinez, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Fox Latin America, said the move strengthens their regional presence.
- With more than 800 live sporting events annually, the expanded offering includes full coverage of the FIFA World Cup 2026 and exclusive team rights from Costa Rica's Liga Promérica and Guatemala's Liga Bantrab.
- Leandro Lagos will head Fox operations in the territory to lead the integration. In the future, the company said the new Fox Channel is expected to be offered through the Fox One streaming service.
- Millicom, a provider of mobile and fiber-cable services to more than 52 million customers, reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing sports experiences. Tigo customers will continue receiving sports programming under the expanded offering.
