Four Arrests on Suspicion of Murder After Death of Three-Month-Old in Staffordshire
Police say four suspects were bailed as detectives work to establish how the three-month-old girl died while camping with family.
On Saturday, a three-month-old infant died at a campsite near Great Wyrley in Staffordshire, prompting Staffordshire Police to arrest four individuals on suspicion of murder.
Paramedics from the West Midlands Ambulance Service arrived at the site off Strawberry Lane at 8:39am on Saturday following reports of a baby in cardiac arrest.
Authorities arrested a 42-year-old man and 30-year-old woman from South Staffordshire, a 20-year-old woman from Wolverhampton, and an 18-year-old man from Walsall; all four were released on bail with conditions.
Detective Inspector Josh Lee of the child protection team said the force is working "around the clock to investigate the circumstances of this tragic incident," treating the death as an isolated case.
Lee urged the public to "avoid sharing unconfirmed and speculative claims online" while police continue gathering evidence at this early stage of the investigation.
