UNITED KINGDOM, JUL 10 – Four suspects, including three teenagers, were arrested for cyberattacks seeking ransom payments that disrupted British retailers and caused M&S losses of around £10 million weekly.
- The National Crime Agency detained four young suspects today in connection with cyberattacks targeting several well-known UK retailers, including a major department store, a prominent supermarket chain, and a luxury goods retailer.
- The arrests follow disruptive cyberattacks in April that targeted these retailers' IT systems, causing data theft and operational interruptions.
- All four suspects, aged 17 to 20, were arrested at home and had electronic devices seized for forensic analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
- Paul Foster, deputy director of the NCA's cybercrime division, noted that while the recent arrests mark important progress in the ongoing probe, efforts are still underway in collaboration with teams both within the UK and internationally.
