Four arrested in connection with M&S and Co-op cyber-attacks
UNITED KINGDOM, JUL 10 – Four suspects, including three teenagers, were arrested for cyberattacks seeking ransom payments that disrupted British retailers and caused M&S losses of around £10 million weekly.
- On June 10, the UK’s National Crime Agency detained four individuals at their residences on suspicion of involvement in cyber intrusions targeting several prominent British retailers.
- These arrests followed cyber-attacks in April that disrupted the retailers, stole personal data of millions of UK customers, but reportedly no financial information.
- The four suspects, aged between 17 and 20 and residing in London, Staffordshire, and the West Midlands, have been charged with crimes including unauthorized computer access, coercion, financial crime, and involvement in criminal enterprise activities.
