'Future Is Very Bright for Us': Raptors Reflect on Season After Game 7 Loss
Jarrett Allen finished with 22 points and 19 rebounds as Cleveland used a dominant third quarter to eliminate Toronto.
On Sunday, Jarrett Allen led the Cleveland Cavaliers past the Toronto Raptors 114-102 in Game 7 of their first-round series, recording 22 points and 19 rebounds.
Entering the playoffs as the Eastern Conference's fifth seed, the young Raptors pushed the Cavaliers—whose US$392.4 million payroll was the league's highest—to a deciding game in their first postseason appearance in four years.
Cleveland seized control in the third quarter, outscoring Toronto 38-19 with a 22-8 rebounding advantage. Allen alone registered 14 points and 10 rebounds during that pivotal period.
Despite 24 points from Scottie Barnes and 23 from Barrett, Toronto's season ended in the 114-102 loss. The Cavaliers advance to face the Detroit Pistons, who eliminated the Orlando Magic 116-94 earlier Sunday.
Darko Rajakovic expressed pride in the team's accomplishment this year, while Barnes described the series as a 'coming-out party' for the young roster. The organization views this experience as preparation for future success.
