Former youth minister accused of grooming boys at Atlanta, Virginia churches, prosecutors say
- On Tuesday, federal prosecutors charged former Falls Church youth minister Jeffrey Turner Taylor, 66, with enticement of minors and traveling to engage in illegal sexual activity following his initial court appearance on Monday.
- According to court documents, Taylor allegedly groomed multiple boys "under the guise of spiritual guidance" at The Falls Church, engaging in "sexual horseplay, probing inquiries into the sexual secrets and habits of boys, and detailed revelations about his own sexual experiences."
- An independent investigation commissioned by The Falls Church found three men accused Taylor of abuse, while more than a dozen others reported inappropriate conduct. Attorneys concluded church leaders failed to take necessary steps after receiving a credible 2007 report.
- Facing up to 105 years in prison if convicted, Taylor, now residing in Milford, Ohio, originally appeared in the Southern District of Ohio court and is scheduled for arraignment in the Eastern District of Virginia on September 24.
- The FBI Washington Field Office is seeking information from additional potential victims, while support group Jeff Taylor Justice stated, "after decades of secrets and inaction, it is now public.
