Mark Lamarr Gets Driving Ban Despite Hardship Plea
Mark Lamarr received a six-month driving ban with a £76 fine and three points despite citing chronic fatigue syndrome and caregiving duties as exceptional hardship, magistrates said no.
On Tuesday, Willesden Magistrates' Court banned comedian Mark Lamarr from driving for six months after he pleaded guilty to driving his Volvo XC60 at 46mph in a 40mph zone in Twickenham.
The court heard that Lamarr already held nine points on his driving license for three prior speeding offences between August 2023 and May 2025, making this conviction his fourth.
Lamarr argued a ban would cause "exceptional hardship" due to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, claiming he needs his car to "find stock," visit his mother, and transport his daughter.
Chairwoman of the magistrates' bench Margaret Mansi rejected the claim, noting it did not amount to "exceptional hardship," and ordered Lamarr to pay £76 fine, £30 surcharge, and £130 in prosecution costs.
The former television presenter stated he is "effectively retired" and now focuses on "dealing records," while noting that on "bad days" his condition requires him to "lay down for a day or two.
