Former State Sen. Brett Lindstrom Running for Congress in Nebraska’s 2nd District
NEBRASKA'S 2ND CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT, JUL 7 – Brett Lindstrom enters the race to succeed retiring Rep. Don Bacon in Nebraska's 2nd District, facing multiple Democratic and Republican challengers in 2026.
Brett Lindstrom, a former Nebraska state senator, announced on Monday he is running for Congress in Nebraska's 2nd District, held by Don Bacon who is retiring in 2026.
Lindstrom entered the race as the second Republican candidate after Brinker Harding’s official announcement last Tuesday, while four Democrats including John Cavanaugh and Denise Powell also declared their bids.
Lindstrom stated that his campaign priorities include boosting economic growth, enhancing border security, supporting veterans and small businesses, and ensuring that Nebraska’s Second District remains an ideal community for families.
Lindstrom announced his candidacy for Congress, emphasizing the need for a representative who will consistently advocate for Nebraska’s families, core values, and future generations. His campaign has gained support from State Senators Rita Sanders and Christy Armendariz, as well as former State Senator Tom Brewer.
Lindstrom’s entry follows his service in the Unicameral from 2015 to 2023 and previous bids for Congress in 2012 and governor in 2022, suggesting a focused effort to represent Nebraska at the federal level.
