Former Lebanon central bank chief to remain in jail while facing corruption charges
A Lebanese judge ruled that former central bank chief Riad Salameh will remain in jail while facing charges of embezzling tens of millions of dollars from state coffers.
The Financial Public Prosecution charged Salameh with embezzlement of $42 million after detaining him following an interrogation over several alleged financial crimes.
After a court hearing, Judge Bilal Halawi issued an arrest warrant for Salameh, meaning he will stay in jail during the trial.
