Former government net-zero adviser 'disappointed' by Carney's commitment to climate
Catherine Abreu, co-founder of Ottawa's independent net-zero advisory group, expressed disappointment in Prime Minister Mark Carney's climate action commitment.
Abreu and Simon Donner resigned from the federal net-zero advisory group in December, citing the government not seeking their advice on major policy decisions.
Critics say Carney's government has backtracked on climate initiatives by repealing the consumer carbon price and expanding fossil fuel subsidies.
Abreu believes Canada is missing opportunities to develop clean energy and is falling behind global shifts away from fossil fuels.
