Australia Skipper Nonplussed over Forthcoming Book that Might Add to Sandpapergate Fallout
Cummins said Australia have moved on from the 2018 ball-tampering scandal as Usman Khawaja prepares to publish an autobiography in November.
Pat Cummins, Australia captain, expressed no concern about potential 'sandpapergate' revelations in Usman Khawaja's upcoming autobiography, the first from any player involved in the Cape Town Test.
The 2018 series in Cape Town became infamous after captain Steve Smith, vice-captain David Warner, and batter Cameron Bancroft were banned for ball-tampering; Warner was painted as the architect of the plot.
Bowlers for Australia, including Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Nathan Lyon, have denied knowledge that 'a foreign substance' would be taken onto the field; Cricket Australia investigations found no other player knew of the plan.
Khawaja called Cummins to provide a 'heads up' about the book, and the captain responded: 'He didn't go into too much detail, just basically gave me the heads up that he is doing a book and, as always, no worries.'
On Friday, Australia will begin their first Test series in South Africa since the scandal, with Cummins stating: 'This group is quite a different group in how we approach playing.
