« Displaced and offensive » : a sketch on « the Casa band » broadcast on Belgian television is controversial

A satirical programme by the Flemish public channel VRT compared the rush in Casa decoration shops, recently declared bankrupt, to the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. The sequence has since been withdrawn.

Public broadcaster VRT has taken a sketch of the satirical program 'The Ideal World' (DIW) offline after it caused a stir on social media. Jan Jaap van der Wal, a former presenter of ‘De ideale wereld’, understands the decision of the VRT to remove a controversial sketch of the satirical program from his social media. “Sometimes something takes on a life of its own on the internet,” he says.
