Former Colorado Parks and Wildlife director accepts job in Wyoming
Jeff Davis resigned amid criticism over Colorado's wolf reintroduction that included 10 wolf deaths and high costs before joining Wyoming Game & Fish as deputy director.
- On Dec. 22 Jeff Davis signed an acceptance letter to become deputy director at the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, with his last Colorado day Jan. 31 and first Wyoming day Feb. 2.
- After a settlement signed Nov. 22, Jeff Davis agreed to resign in lieu of termination and became Senior Advisor to the Executive Director of Natural Resources through May 15, 2026.
- Advocates were split, with Rob Edward praising Davis while others criticized his approach, as lawmakers cited 10 dead wolves, more than 80 dead livestock and working dogs, and costs five times estimates.
- Wyoming Game & Fish expects to name a deputy and said an announcement about Davis was expected this week, with no starting date yet as he will succeed retiring deputy director Doug Brimeyer.
- The move highlights cross-border consequences, as USFWS warned it might assume wolf management if Colorado fails to produce documents by Jan. 18, and Davis joins an agency once led by Brian Nesvik, linking state and federal ties.
