UW Athletic Director Search Committee Includes Colts GM Ballard
The search includes former Badgers and business leaders as Wisconsin looks for a permanent replacement after Chris McIntosh left for a Big Ten post.
On Tuesday, the University of Wisconsin announced a nine-person search committee and hired CSA Search and Consulting to find a replacement for former athletic director Chris McIntosh.
Incoming Interim Chancellor Eric Wilcots is leading the process because outgoing Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin departs Saturday; McIntosh stepped down last month to accept a newly created Big Ten position as deputy commissioner for strategy.
UW associate professor Lauren Bishop chairs the committee, which includes notable alumni Chris Ballard and Michael Finley. Bishop said the group will spend "the next several weeks seeking feedback from student-athletes, athletic department coaches and staff."
Marcus Sedberry, interim athletic director, continues managing athletics during the search, with the university expecting a permanent successor in place by this summer.
The incoming athletic director faces significant challenges: a football program coming off back-to-back losing seasons and a budget strained by rising costs and shrinking ticket revenue.
