Ford Recalls More than 200,000 Broncos and Bronco Sports for Instrument Panel Failure
Ford will fix the software flaw via free dealer or over-the-air updates for 229,609 recalled 2025-2026 Bronco and Bronco Sport SUVs, NHTSA said.
- On Nov. 14, the NHTSA published a recall notice for 20,558 Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair PHEVs, citing a battery short risk, according to Ford.
- A manufacturing flaw in high-voltage battery cells may cause internal short-circuiting and battery failure, and Ford said a damaged separator layer may be a factor based on its December 2024 recall.
- After an earlier software fix, Ford recovered modules and launched an investigation into three European reports from July and August 2025 and two more in September 2025, with seven battery venting cases on Kuga PHEV vehicles noted by Nov. 5.
- Ford began notifying dealers on Nov. 18 and will mail owner instructions on Dec. 1; affected vehicle owners should limit charge and use Auto EV mode until the free remedy is installed.
- Battery makers explain battery thermal venting as a pressure-release safety measure, and as of Nov. 14, Ford said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries, NHTSA said in Washington, D.C.
