Ford Recalls 548K Expedition SUVs Over Center Consoles That Could Develop Sharp Edge
Ford said the defect has caused one accident and 65 injuries worldwide, and dealerships will inspect or replace the trim free of charge.
Ford Motor Company is recalling 548,463 Ford Expedition vehicles from 2018-2024 due to peeling center console chrome that may cause potential injury to occupants.
On Sept. 24, 2025, Ford identified a trend of bubbling trim in Vehicle Owner Questionnaires, with the defect linked to chrome parts manufactured by suppliers Xin Point and Forvia.
Globally, Ford is aware of one accident and 65 injuries related to the sharp edges, with reports stating "professional medical attention was required" for some lacerations.
Owners should visit a Ford dealership for inspection and potential replacement of affected consoles at no charge; notification letters are scheduled for June 29.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated additional remedy letters are expected in January 2027 "once the remedy is available" to complete the recall process.
