Ford recalls more than 290,000 vehicles in US due to issue with rearview camera system

  • The automaker's U.S. recall involves over 290,000 2020-2022 F-250 SD, F-350 SD, and F-450 SD vehicles due to rearview camera display issues, NHTSA said on Oct. 10.
  • Ford reviewed customer complaints and warranty records that showed as of Sept. 20 it was aware of 10 reports related to the trucks' cameras, with the first on Jan. 20, 2022.
  • Dealers will install a software update that fixes the image processing module software free of charge, and Ford recall number 25SA8 matches NHTSA recall number 25V-686; Ford says it is not aware of any reports of crash or injury.
  • Affected owners may call Ford at 1-866-436-7332 or NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236 to learn more, with interim letters expected to be mailed on Oct. 20 and a final remedy in March 2026.
  • As context, this recall is the third camera-related action for Ford this year, and NHTSA says Ford is recalling nearly 750,000 vehicles over camera, steering and seatbelt issues.
