Ford recalls 1.4 million US vehicles over faulty rear-view cameras
Ford recalls 1.4 million vehicles for rearview camera defects that may cause distorted or blank images, increasing crash risk, with free repairs offered by dealers, NHTSA said.
- On October 22, 2025, Ford Motor Company announced a recall of 1,448,655 vehicles in the United States due to rearview cameras that safety regulators said may increase crash risk.
- Regulators first flagged the issue in February, and Ford Motor Company told dealers earlier this month that some rearview cameras may fail, following May and July recalls.
- The recall lists affected models including the Ford Explorer , Ford Escape , Lincoln MKZ, and Lincoln MKT, while dealers will inspect and replace cameras free of charge this month.
- Ford COO Kumar Galhotra wrote that the company has expanded its safety teams and will offer a 15-year extended warranty, while spokesman Mike Levine said the recall won’t affect third-quarter earnings.
- This latest action comes amid a broader pattern that includes Ford's 126 recalls in 2025 and a $165 million civil penalty after an NHTSA probe found delayed rear-view camera recalls.
