Ford Government Staging Official Announcements without Inviting Reporters
A review by The Trillium found at least five government events since mid-May where reporters were not invited or given media advisories.
Premier Doug Ford has increasingly attended government events without notifying reporters, with The Trillium identifying at least five such announcements since mid-May.
Ford appeared at these events standing at government-branded Protect Ontario podiums, though no media advisories were issued to allow journalists to attend or observe.
While the government still issues advisories for some appearances, such as a July 16 Windsor press conference, these five events occurred without any notice to journalists.
Opposition NDP Leader Marit Stiles criticized the premier, stating Ford is "running scared" and refuses to face difficult questions from the media or opposition.
This scrutiny follows backlash over the $28.9 million jet purchase and 20 Toronto-area Progressive Conservative MPPs billing taxpayers more than $120,000 for local hotel stays.
