'Special Place in Hell': Tampa Woman Caught on Camera Throwing, Kicking Puppy, Sheriff Says
Imania Davis faces six aggravated cruelty counts after surveillance video showed her throwing and kicking a small dog, officials said.
On Thursday, April 30, 2026, 33-year-old Imania Davis was arrested in Tampa after security cameras captured her throwing and kicking a one-year-old Maltese dog; she faces six counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals.
Real Time Crime Center cameras recorded Davis throwing the stray puppy "not once, but twice" onto asphalt near 11th Street and East 127th Avenue, according to investigators.
Veterinary doctors confirmed the Maltese suffered a broken leg from the trauma. "This dog wasn't a violent dog," Sheriff Chad Chronister said, noting the animal was only seeking affection.
Davis made her first court appearance via video conference on Friday and is held in the Hillsborough County Jail on a $75,000 bond; officials noted her prior arrest for battery.
The puppy is currently recovering at the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center under care from Chelsea Waldeck. Sheriff Chronister expressed hope the dog will be placed for adoption once fully healed.
