Florence Tourism Surges Ahead of 2026 as Italy Top Hotels Highlights Rising Travel & Hotel Demand
Florence recorded more than 4 million arrivals and 9.7 million overnight stays in the first 10 months of 2025, Italy Top Hotels said.
On Saturday, May 23, 2026, Florence released tourism data showing record momentum entering 2026, with more than 4 million arrivals and 9.7 million overnight stays recorded in the first ten months of 2025.
International tourism remained a major driver of growth, with foreign overnight stays rising by 666,000, while demand for cultural travel and short breaks pushed arrivals up 7.1% and overnight stays up 8.5% year-over-year.
Day visitors to Florence reached around 8 million annually, while tourist bus permits between January and October 2025 increased by 45.3% compared with the same period in 2024, reflecting surging transit demand.
Officials are placing greater focus on sustainable tourism management to distribute visitor benefits across the territory while preserving cultural landmarks including the Uffizi Gallery, the Duomo, and Ponte Vecchio.
Italy Top Hotels recommends that travellers plan early for 2026, particularly for spring and early summer dates, while comparing accommodation locations between the historic centre, Santa Maria Novella, San Lorenzo, and Oltrarno.
