The Little Master Joins Fletch in Hall of Fame
Ablett joined his father in the Hall of Fame after 357 games and eight All-Australian selections, while Fletcher was honored for 400 games with Essendon.
On Tuesday, dual Brownlow medallist Gary Ablett Jr. and Essendon defender Dustin Fletcher were inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame at a gala event in Melbourne.
Ablett, son of Hall of Famer Gary Ablett Sr., played 357 games across Geelong and Gold Coast, earning two Brownlow Medals and eight All-Australian selections during his career.
Essendon great Fletcher, a member of the famous 'Baby Bombers' premiership side, played 400 games over 23 seasons, becoming only the fourth player to reach the milestone in AFL/VFL history.
West Australian great Bill Walker was elevated to Legend status, while John Worsfold, David Kantilla, Tim Evans, and Hayden Kennedy were also acknowledged as new Hall of Fame members.
Reflecting on the honor, Ablett said joining his father in the Hall of Fame 'means a lot,' noting his dad 'never pressured me into football' while helping develop his love for the game.
