There will not only be a smartphone ban for primary school. The Flemish government decided on Friday that the ban will also be in secondary education from next school year. Although there it will be a tiered system: an absolute ban in the first and second grade, and for the third grade the schools can decide whether or not to allow smartphones during breaks.

Er komt niet alleen smartphoneverbod voor de lagere school. De Vlaamse regering heeft vrijdag beslist dat het verbod er vanaf volgend schooljaar ook in het secundair onderwijs komt. Al gaat het daar om een getrapt systeem: een absoluut verbod in de eerste en tweede graad, en voor de derde graad mogen de scholen beslissen of ze smartphone tijdens de pauzes nog toelaten of niet.
