Five migrants drowned in the Kolpa River in Croatia. The bodies were found during a rescue operation in which five more people were rescued. A larger group of migrants attempted to cross the river, 15 of whom illegally entered Slovenian territory, the Novo Mesto Police Department confirmed to us.
Five migrants drowned in the Kupa River, their bodies were recovered by Croatian police near the village of Severin, near the border with Slovenia. Around 20 other migrants were rescued, police said in a statement.
