The National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) has uncovered illegal coal mining operations in the Bukit Soeharto Grand Forest Park area in the Indonesian capital (IKN), East Kalimantan. The illegal mining, which has been ongoing since 2016, is estimated to have caused state losses of up to Rp 5.7 trillion.
Five illegal coal mines identified during inspections of illegal mines in Zonguldak were destroyed using explosives by teams from the Turkish Hard Coal Enterprises (TTK). Equipment such as rails and wagons were seized from the mines.
