VILLARS-SUR-OLLON, Switzerland (AP) — Five teams and 30 of the world's top cyclists have been removed from the women's Tour de Romandie in a dispute over GPS trackers on riders, the sport's governing body said as the race began Friday.
At the Tour de Romandie Feminin the first stage comes to the Eklat. The World Federation suspends the drivers of five teams, 30 out of 93 athletes fall out of the classification. The teams refuse to participate in a planned test run.
It's about safety. An argument about a system for locating the female drivers causes a stir even before the start of the women's Romandie Tour.
The race organizers raged on Friday, 15 August, shortly before the start of the competition.
