Fishermen advocate begins campaign against offshore wind, ‘industrializing’ of the ocean
The New England Fishermen’s Stewardship Association launched a campaign highlighting concerns that offshore wind projects 'industrialize' the ocean and harm fishermen's livelihoods.
Aaron Williams stated the campaign aims to raise awareness of worries from fishermen, seafood producers, and coastal communities about offshore wind expanding in fishing areas.
The campaign features mobile billboards in Washington D.C. during Ocean Week with messages opposing offshore wind and highlighting the industrialization of the ocean.
Williams warned that large-scale ocean development can displace fishing, raise costs, harm marine ecosystems, and threaten the seafood supply with potentially irreversible effects.
