FIRST STUDENT TEAMSTERS RATIFY NATIONAL MASTER AGREEMENT
The contract covers more than 22,000 workers and adds retirement, leave and safety protections after a strike threat across 96 locals.
On Tuesday, First Student Teamsters ratified a five-year contract, securing stronger protections and improved benefits for over 22,000 school bus workers nationwide.
A credible strike threat across 96 locals prompted negotiators to finalize the agreement just hours before the contract expired on March 31.
The First Student National Master Agreement establishes pension contributions for the first time for more than 10,000 workers and creates protections against misuse of bus video and audio technology.
Teamsters General President Sean M. O'Brien said, "First Student Teamsters refused to settle for the status quo and fought for an agreement that delivers real improvements."
Kelly Plaisted, a school bus worker with Teamsters Local 633 in New Hampshire, said the contract provides "less stress and more stability" for families while enabling safer student transport.
