Iraola Jets in to Liverpool to Finalise Anfield Deal
The Spaniard is expected to bring a more aggressive style after Liverpool finished 25 points behind Arsenal.
On Thursday, Andoni Iraola arrived in Liverpool to finalize his head coach appointment, traveling from San Sebastian to John Lennon Airport before heading to the AXA Training Centre.
Liverpool sacked Arne Slot last Saturday following a struggling Premier League title defense, as the club seeks to restore the aggressive, front-foot style lost during Slot's second season.
Sporting Director Richard Hughes led swift negotiations, having previously appointed Iraola at Bournemouth three years ago, where he guided the Cherries to sixth place and maiden European qualification.
Iraola is expected to sign a two-year contract with full authority over backroom staff, though former players Thiago Alcantara and James Milner have been linked to coaching roles.
The club aims to return to "heavy metal" football championed by Jurgen Klopp, as Iraola's attacking tactics are expected to deliver the urgent, aggressive style lost last season.
Andoni Iraola has become Liverpool's new head coach, the Basque specialist will take over the management of the English star team ahead of the 2026-27 season.
