The Amersfoort Marathon will be held on April 4 next year. This is earlier in the year than previous editions, which were run in May or June. The organization is doing this because, in recent years, it has often been too hot for running events during those months. Editions after 2027 will also take place in the early spring.
Organizers of the annual marathon in the Dutch city of Amersfoort decided to move its traditional date two months earlier due to climate change, which has made the beginning of summer much hotter, a similar move is being considered in Groningen.
Next year's Amersfoort Marathon will take place earlier in the year. According to the organizers, it is regularly too hot to run in May and June, so the event is being moved to early April.
