First graders bring book characters to life with pumpkin project

Special to The Canton News First graders in Ms. Young’s class at Goodloe Elementary School recently completed a Literacy Pumpkin Character Project, blending reading comprehension with creativity. For the project, students selected a favorite story, read it and then designed a pumpkin to represent the book’s main character.  The hands-on activity helped students build comprehension, practice creativity and foster a love for reading.
