Park lighters will soon have almost no chance in Heidelberg: instead of a footstep, they may be controlling a camera car in the future. Now the city scanner starts for the first large test operation.
As a nationwide premiere, Heidelberg will launch scanning cars against false parkers from 18 September. The pilot project will run without fines for the time being.
Parking spaces in cities are rare. Heidelberg is starting today to drive a car through the streets and digitally screen it for park lighters. It is a pilot project in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport in Baden-Württemberg.
Baden-Württemberg is the first federal state to allow the use of scan cars against park lighters. As part of a pilot project, Heidelberg is the first municipality to start with a vehicle.
