Firefighters Wednesday worked to contain a vegetation fire in the unincorporated area of Mead Valley, west of the 215 Freeway near Perris. The Rider fire began around 5:19 p.m. on Vista Del Lago and Sunny Canyon Street in Perris, according to the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department. By around 6:30 p.m. it was measured at 50 acres.
