If it were applied, this new tax regime could represent a shortfall of €200 million for the French group, point unions in a letter addressed to the Head of State on Friday 25 September.
Several film organisations called Emmanuel Macron to alert him about a project to raise the VAT rate applied to Canal+, which would have "dramatic" consequences for the industry, according to a joint letter consulted on Monday by the AFP.
Under the 2027 budget, Bercy wants to increase the rate of VAT on Canal+'s offers from 10 to 20%. The loss of profits for the first French film financier could reach EUR 200 million per year.
