The international transfer system is being overhauled for good. After more than a year and a half of intensive negotiations, world football governing body FIFA has reached an agreement on sweeping new transfer rules.

FIFA announced on Wednesday the adoption of a new transfer regulation following the Diarra case, drawn up in consultation with representatives of footballers and adapted to the law of the European Union, which will enter into force in January 2027.
